This One's Gonna Bruise

Happy Thursday! I'm really excited! I went to dinner with Erin and her friend, Frankie, last night and we made plans to go caving next weekend! : D I've never been, and the more Frankie talked about it, the more excited we got! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas! It just can't come soon enough!

Anywho, this is what I wore out last night. Funny story about these heels: I bought them for next to nothing. Never wore them. Gave them to Erin. They were too big for her. She gave them back. Now I wear them. Ok, maybe not so funny. I liked them because they remind me of the Irish flag, green, white, and orange. What good Irish girl could resist? :::I use the term 'good' loosely:::

Did I mention I'm going caving next weekend? Oh, I did? Ok! :::insert squeal of happiness here:::

Seriously, people are going to get sick of me!

I tried something else new last night: Slacklining. In Frankie's backyard. In the dark. With headlamps. Sometimes I have to acknowledge the randomness of my life! That is how I acquired these bad boys:

How To Say Goodbye

Sunday night, I went to a farewell get together for a co-worker. Social situations with co-workers can be weird. Not that we don't already know way too much about each other! But still, weird! We met up at Bonefish Grill, ate some yummy food, drank some wine, and had a long in depth conversation about waxing our very hairy Russian AST Mgr, Lev....

 :::Weird!:::

We have to wear all black for work, so this was an opportunity for some of us me to play dress up! Some of us me wear polos, cargos, and Converse to work everyday, so we I were a bit unrecognizable to fellow co-workers! ; D

A dress with pockets. Can't beat that with a stick!

Everything Is Hotsy Totsy Now

The weather this weekend was CRAZY! In between frequent thunder & lightening storms w/ torrential downpours, Erin and I managed to fit in a half a day of climbing on Saturday (We got some great strength and endurance building tips from a friend. Thanks Mike! Also, we're having some success with V1 routes now! Yay! Go us!), then we headed downtown to wander around Fells Point, grabbed an Irish Russian at One-Eyed Mike's, and headed over to Little Italy for the Italian Festival. We ended the day at a friend's house for a bonfire, although we all spent a good hour/hour and a half hiding in the basement waiting for a storm to pass! But when it did, it was a beautiful night! : )

I love the print on this dress! It reminds me a little bit of a Monet painting. And the fun bright colors are so cheery! Monet in Technicolor! I kept my accessories and jewelry pretty minimal. Between the heat, humidity, and rain, it was just easier! And cooler. And I'm lazy. Too lazy to accessorize. Did I mention there was Italian Ice at the Italian Festival? It was yummy! ; D

I'll post pictures from Fells and Little Italy tomorrow.

Brand New Shoes

I know it's Spring/Summer and I should be thinking about sandals and snow cones.....mmmm....snow cones....

BUT! I just bought these cute boots that I found on Amazon. They're Dr. Martens, so right off the bat I'm in love! They were kinda pricey, but recently went to 40% off! And they're Dr. Martens! I feel that makes them a justifiable purchase! Right? Right! If I get as much wear out of them as my other Dr. Martens booties, that will be money well spent!

I can't wait to see how many different ways I can style them next winter!

Crazy World

Friday was just a totally crazy day at work! I walked into an unplanned floor move, literally, so I had to rearrange my whole day to move and set up new visuals! This is one of my pet peeves at work. :::grumble, grumble::: Venting!

So, needless to say, I was all about a comfy casual outfit for dinner with Lexi by Friday night. I think I was inspired by this outfit by Kim from eat.sleep.wear.

I <3 my Chucks! :::Happy Dance::: It was also a little chilly by the evening, which was a nice change from the heat and humidity earlier in the week!

Lexi and I met up at Madonna Seafood and pigged out on Angels on Horseback, Lobster, and Crabcakes. Yummy! Plus, Lexi always cracks me up, so that helped to put me in a better mood! Definitely a good end to a quasi-ick day!

Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight

I officially have 'the grass is greener' syndrome! A few weeks ago, I was moaning about how cold and rainy it was. Now it's hot and humid, and I'm whining about that! But, in my defense, 100 degrees and 99% humidity is pretty gross. (Slight exaggeration, but not far off!)

I am not a fan. : (

I love this skirt! It's has gold shiny threading through it! I like shiny things.

So, I found myself in a Walmart a few weeks ago in a "I Have Nothing To Wear For Climbing Because Erin And I Made A Last Minute Split Decision To Go Climbing And I Don't Feel Like Flashing People Because I Wore A Dress To Work Today" emergency. I bought this shirt. It's by OP and it's super soft, light weight, made with organic cotton, and only $4! Since that fateful day I've bought a ton a few more as well as a crap load a bunch of the tank version. They're perfect for this steamy weather!

I also found out that Norma Kamali does a line for Walmart! I am now the proud owner of this and this. Don't worry, Target! I still love you! It's healthy to try new things.

Memories Are Made of This

I'm trying not to wear these chambray shorts to death, but I just can't help myself! They are just so comfy and cute and basically go with everything! For instance, a floral blouse and striped espadrilles.

This was the perfect outfit for a Memorial Day cookout. I haven't worn this shirt in ages, so it was fun to drag it out, dust it off, and style it up! The nice light weight cotton was perfect for a hot day. Btw, where did Spring go? Is it lost? Should we get a search party together? : (  I'm worried.

There's a great story behind these cute bicycle earings:

Crafted in Kisumu, Kenya, and finished by the Teenage Mothers Association of Kenya. TEMAK is "the last house towards the Obunga slums," the most destitute area of Kisumu. TEMAK was organized to provide job training. As a community center, the organization also provides the villagers an educational forum for HIV/AIDS awareness and other health issues. Many of TEMAK's young women participate in making crafts, earning income to support themselves and their families. TEMAK has also become a craft center for the professional artisans and craftspeople in the town of Kisumu; providing local and international sales outlets that create a sustainable income for many in the community.

Kinda neat! And they make some super cute jewelry!

Call of the Divine

The breeze was blowing my dress around. : D I wish I could have captured it better! I've decided I look kinda Grecian. All I need is a sword & a shield and I could be a Gladiator! Grrrr. Watch your back, Russell Crowe! I'm coming to getcha!

Ok, maybe I'm not Gladiator material. Me and sharp objects don't mix. It could get ugly. Like, a family size box of Band Aids just for me ugly.

Me and climbing, thankfully, do mix! I showed some V Intro routes who's boss lady in these here parts on Saturday. The Movement Class that I took made a HUGE difference! I've even been attempting some V1 routes. Scary!

This is my 'Don't Mess With Me, Russell Crowe' face.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Memorial Day!

Carry That Weight

It was a little bit warm for this top, but for some reason I was really drawn to it. Some days you just need a bright happy print top to boost your mood!

I have a really good friend who is going through a really rough time right now. She's constantly second guessing herself. Is she wrong? Is she a bad person? I'm not going to say there is a right and wrong in this situation, that's too black and white, and no situation is ever that cut and dry. But she is definitely not a bad person and she is not wrong. Did I just contradict myself? She's not wrong, but she's not the one who's right either. She's not the winner! There is no competition! But that is almost what this whole f-ed up situation is turning into. And she has no control over it. I'm rambling! Basically, I love her to pieces and I wish I could do something to make the situation better and to make her happy and whole again. I hate to see her hurting! I worry that it's going to get worse before it gets better and I hope with all of my heart that it does get better, for everyone involved! But I guess all I can do is be there for her when she needs me. It's frustrating! :' (

Yellow Sun

I saw this jacket at work this past week and started obsessing over it! I LOVE this shade of mustard yellow! Problem is, yellow's really not my color. But it's so cute! Also, it's from the old lady traditional section. I feel kinda old now. : (  But it's so damn cute! Finally, I tried it on and it fit perfectly! And it really isn't a bad color on me. Right? Right! It's kind of a pastel mustard yellow. :::insert dubious look here::: And it's linen, so perfect for cool Spring/Summer evenings. I bought it.

I love the detail on the front of this blouse! I also love my new chambray shorts. Wanna know what I love about chambray? It looks like denim, but it's a way lighter (aka cooler) fabric. Plus they were $15! ; D

P.S. Can I use the word 'love' anymore in one paragraph? ; )

On a random side note, Erin and I took a Movement class last night for climbers. Wow! I had that "A-ha! I get it now! This is what I'm doing wrong!" moment! I've been putting too much stress on my arms and not using my legs and center of gravity to climb. So, as a result, I'm getting super tired about half way up the wall. Not to mention I'm totally lumbering through it like an Ox, with no grace to speak of what-so-ever! After the class we ran down to the bouldering wall to try our new skills out. Sadly, a route that we've had marginal success with was gone (they change the routes on sections of the wall every month or so), but there was a new V Intro route for us to try and we were both successful on the first try! Even though I missed a few foot holds that would have made it significantly easier! Oops! I even attempted a route that's been kicking my butt for weeks and completed it! Victory is mine! Can't wait for Saturday for more climbing!
