7/30

Ah! Vacation! It was so nice to just sleep in and hang out in my pjs all morning! I actually had to force myself into real clothes to go grocery shopping. Really. There was kicking and biting. Even some hair pulling. It wasn't pretty. But real clothes went on and groceries were purchased! And now I'm back to pjs, One Tree Hill Season 1, and peanut butter filled pretzels. Life is good. : D

For some reason I was drawn to simple white on white today. With a pop of color, of course! I wish you could see the pearl bead appliquéd floral pattern on the front of this cardigan. It's so delicate and feminine! And it was so warm today that I just threw my trench coat on instead of my wool peacoat!

Ok, so I'm starting to see a challenge in the 30 For 30 Challenge. I miss the rest of my closet!!! :' (   I've been so inspired by everyone else's remixes that now I just want to dive right into my closet and go buck wild! But, no! I mustn't give up! I must carry on! I can power through this!

First of all, I just wanted to give a shout out to the Sun! Hey Sun!! Thanks for coming out today and warming our little world here in Maryland to a balmy 45 degrees! We really appreciate it! We've missed you! Are you going to stick around for a while? Please? I love you. You had me at 'Hello'...

I tried working a belt into this outfit, but the combination of stripes, belt, and boots just made me look like some weird pirate cowboy! Just add a peg leg and a horse named Silver and I'd be...well, I don't know what you'd do with me! Do circuses still have sideshow freaks?

I'm about to head back up to Erin and Benjamin's for an anti-Super Bowl party. Yep, that's right. Anti-Super Bowl party. But, would a party by any other name still have yummy food and beer? I think so!

So, hindsight being what it is (20/20), it occurred to me that, when, in the month of February, am I going to wear one pair of heels, let alone two?!?! So, if it's ok with everyone else, I'm going to switch my Born heels:

 for my Hunter wellies:

My feet (and my bum) will thank you!!!

I went up to Erin and Benjamin's house last night, and per the usual, had a blast! It was supposed to be a quiet dinner (mmmm, steamed scrimps and rice & beans!) and a movie night, but turned into a dance party! Erin and I put on a show for Benjamin, showing off our awesome Cha Cha moves we've been learning. Me thinks he was a bit unimpressed, but I think we rocked it!

Our new heroes are Michael Wentink and Beata! We want her costumes and for both of them to teach us how to dance like them!!! I think I have a girl crush on Beata!

Ah, bright colors and patterns, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Well, back outside! : D  My usual area is now less like an ice rink and more like a shower, but we're getting there.

An excerpt from a text conversation with Alexis yesterday:

Me: 'Is it spring yet?'
Lexi: '45 days!'
Me: 'Not soon enough!'
Lexi: 'Closer than yesterday'
Me: 'Eternal optimist.'
Lexi: 'Lol'

But she's right (don't tell her I said that! Her ego's big enough already! ; ) ), Spring will be here before we know it! We just need to hang in there!

On a side note, this scarf (made by John Hanly & Co.) is almost exactly like a scarf my mom had when I was little. I loved that scarf, so warm and fuzzy and a beautiful bright teal green! How could a 5 year old resist? I think my sister has it now. But when I saw this one at Marshall's, I had to have it! I even bought a plaid one in really pretty Fall colors for Erin for Christmas last year. I think she's been living in it. : )

Today was National Wear Red Day! Cardiovascular disease claims the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women are not paying attention. To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women – a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health. Fortunately I had a red top AND a red cardigan in my 30 For 30 choices, so I was able to participate today and show my support for this amazing cause!

Just an interesting fact about the scarf I'm wearing: the technique used to make it is called Bandhani. Bandhani is a popular type of tie and dye method in India were cloth is tied with thread and then dyed. It is the simplest and perhaps the oldest form of creating patterns on a plain piece of cloth.

BTW, indoor pictures= ick. Going back outside ASAP!

Evidence of a busy week: reuse of the same accessories. Same grey scarf, same brown belt, same boots. I should start my own challenge! Pick 3 accessories and style them with as many outfits as you can! : ) BTW, what's up with my face?!?! Hey, Gisele Bundchen, smile for a stinkin' picture!

I was seriously tempted to put my red cardigan on with this dress and tights combo and throw beads at people who flashed me. Then I realized there could be some serious legal consequences involved with that idea. : (  Oh, well! I love the bright colors!  (When is winter over?)

Ok, the crazy week is over! Vacation may now commence! YAY!!!! Without further ado, here is the first of my 30 For 30 outfits. Sorry so late! I had to take this weeks pics inside b/c my usual spot is now an ice rink. I'm not a fan of the indoor shoots. I look like Casper the Friendly Ghost. Or Powder. I'm kinda glowing!

BTW, these are my all time favorite boots! I've had them for 7 years and one of the zippers is totally MacGyver rigged, but I refuse to ever get rid of them! <3 <3 <3

Fallen Snow

Well, 6 inches of snow and not a plow in sight! What's a girl to do? I tried to use the field of dreams (If you build it, he will come) method on the plow (If you dig your car out, the plow will come), but to no avail! So, getting to work today was an epic failure! Hopefully it'll come through before 6pm, because I'm supposed to meet up with Rachel to check out a wedding dress she really likes at K and B Bridals, which is coincidentally owned by a girl I used to Irish dance with! HarCo is too small! Saturday we're looking for bridesmaid dresses @ Alfred Angelo and David's Bridal. This is my favorite! Anyway, this was my 'Digging The Car Out, Waiting For The Plow' ensemble (And hopefully my 'Wedding Dress Shopping With Rachel' ensemble! Fingers crossed!) for the day:

Maybe I'll work on my 30 For 30.

30 For 30 Winter Edition- My 30

Here are my picks for the 30 For 30 Challenge! I picked a lot of items that are already in heavy rotation, to kinda make it easy on myself (I'm wading in, bit by bit. Not plunging in, feet first!). I figure, if I survive this one, next time I'll get a little more adventurous and pick stuff that only sees the light of day a few times a year! That would force me to be creative with clothes I sometimes draw a blank on what to do with!

I thought it would be funny to post what I was wearing while working on this fun project:

It's hardly glamorous or fashionable, but it was warm! Go figure, my first fashion post would be me looking like a complete ragamuffin! But it did give me a chance to play around with my new tripod!

30 For 30 Winter Edition

So, I've decided to participate in the 30 For 30 Winter Edition run by Kendi Everyday. I'm kinda excited (and a little scurd!) to participate! It'll be a fun challenge, and kinda interesting to see what ensembles come out of 30 pieces!! Like a mad science experiment! Mwahahahahahahaha!! :::cough, cough::: Sorry! I'm also hoping it will teach me to appreciate the cloths that I already own and squelch this out of control consumerist need I have to always buy something new! Let the 30 For 30 Challenge begin!!!
